Macho Vaqueros (Cowboys) event at Bar Frida on November 19, 2011!
As part of a full weekend of activities for the Vaqueros de Jalisco, Bar Frida is preparing to welcome all of the attendees starting at 7pm on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at a special night of cowboy fun! In its 3rd year, this event draws attendees from all over Mexico for parties and events organized with them in mind. Click on the schedule to the right to see the full weekend schedule.
Vaqueros de Jalisco (Jalisco Cowboys) Reunion Weekend to kick off at Bar Frida on November 12, 9pm!
Following up on last year’s successful Macho Vaquero weekend, the local group Vaqueros Jalisco will be in Vallarta for the long Revolution Day weekend, November 12 to 14, 2010. Kicking off the events on Friday, November 12 will be Bar Frida’s Cowboy Welcome Party where all the visiting cowboys will receive a free shot of Frida’s now famous tequila and a free hot dog. Frida’s kitchen will serve a full menu as well.
In addition to the opening night at Frida’s, events will be held at No Borders Bar on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 13 and 14. For more information see No Borders facebook page here.

Puerto Vallarta, mEXICO, October 24, 2010: Mingo Mexico Productions announces the Puerto Vallarta debut of Mark Alan Smith, singing live at Paco’s Ranch, in a three-night engagement during the US Thanksgiving week: November 24, 25 and 26, 2010 at 8pm each night.
Mark’s LIVE vocal impressions (there is no lip sync in this show) of Cher, Bette Midler, Patti LaBelle, Judy Garland, Liza Manelli, Patsy Cline, Carol Channing, Louis Armstrong and many others leave his standing-room-only audiences begging for more. His stage presence and vocal range make this performer a must see!
For more than 20 years, Mark Alan Smith has traveled the US and other parts of the world selling out theatres, nightclubs and showrooms. He has performed with some of the greatest entertainers of our time including the legendary Eartha Kitt, Tiffany, The Weather Girls, Martha Wash, Thelma Houston and Sir Elton John, to name a few. A documentary about Mark, From a Jack to a Queen, directed by Erik Hayes, ran in short film festivals in 2003, winning an “Audience Favorite Award”.
Performances will be at the all-new Paco’s Ranch (Ignacio L. Vallarta 237 next to Club Roxy) in Vallarta’s old town/southside on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, November 24, 25 and 26, 2010 at 8pm each night. Tickets for VIP seating near the stage are 150 pesos. General admission tickets are 100 pesos. VIP tickets are encouraged for guaranteed seating. Groups of 6 or more qualify for discounted seating.

Opening Night, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 24 is a special show to benefit VES, Vallarta Enfrenta el Sida, A.C. Proceeds from this performance will help VES continue their HIV education and outreach work in the Vallarta area.
Mark’s show is best suited for adults and, on most nights, contains adult humor. The solo performance is approx 90 minutes with no intermission. Synopsis:
Hedwig, born a boy named Hansel in East Berlin, fell in love with an American G.I. and underwent a sex-change operation in order to marry him and flee to the West. Unfortunately, nothing worked out quite as it was supposed to – years later, Hedwig is leading her rock band on a tour of the U.S., telling her life story through a series of concerts at Bilgewater Inn seafood restaurants. Her tour dates coincide with those of arena-rock star Tommy Gnosis, a wide-eyed boy who once loved Hedwig… but then left with all her songs.

Our Anniversary Party at Bar Frida this year was a lot of fun! We had a full mariachi band, Mario and Miguel performing traditional folklorico dances, Cassandra and lots of surprises! Easter Bonnet (and basket?) Night at Fridas, April 4
Be as creative as you want to be! JR is in town so watch out!
Bar Frida will hold the second annual Easter Bonnet Contest on Sunday, April 4, 2010! (for photos from the event go to the gallery!)
Customers/Contestants are asked wear a bonnet of their choosing. Be as creative as you want to be! If it won’t fit under the low ceilings downstairs, you can enter through the rear and head straight for the balcony for a cool margarita! Tom says, “If you’ve got a nice basket, bring that too!”
Go simple and pretty or dramatic 
and splashy! There are great supply stores within a block or two of Fridas where you can make yourself as pretty as, well, a new hat. Get there early! 9pm starts the contestant parade with judges awarding prizes to the best through the night. How eggszzzciting!

The Posada at the CAPASITS HIV clinic was yesterday, and it was filled with smiling, laughing, young faces because Christmas came early for a lot of kids living in families affected by HIV and AIDS! Macho Vaquero Party
Fridas was the site of the first ever Macho Vaqueros Opening Night Festivities on November 12, 2009. We had a great time with the cowboys and they promise to be back next year! Ride em’ cowboys! Visitors were from all over Mexico.
